Mayan Predictions for 2012 - Are They To Be Believed?

In recent times end of the world predictions has become a very common statement to be heard from many people who believe that this will be the world's fate. Many people call it the year of reckoning; others think it is just hogwash and the question then becomes is this prediction true or false.

Most 2012 predictions are based on those made by Nostradamus. However, other prophecies have been thrown into the mix and are seen as supporting evidence to the Nostradamus predictions. His writings refer to an entity known as "the tyrant, " who comes to the forefront of this prediction when the Slavs change their prince and raise an army in the mountains. He speaks too, of the north pole as becoming united, an event that many people equate to NATO alliances. There are many references to Mediterranean geographical areas in the Balkans, including Greece and Italy who are under the influence of NATO.

2012 predictions point to major social and political turmoil occurring all around the world, with the war of Armageddon taking place in the middle east. Those who believe that Nostradamus accurately predicted World Wars one and two, see this as the third world war he mentions in his writings. This "World War III" will cause millions of deaths around the world, according to the predictions.

Since history isn't really clear on how the Mayan people lived, then this prophecy may just be conjecture. It could be something that was made up by a historian not really fully understanding what the Mayan symbols and numbers really meant.

It is interesting that those people who make up present day Mayan society really hold nothing in significance to the year 2012. They don't really use the long count calendar anymore either. Perhaps it was something that was even created or thought up by someone who discovered part of the Mayan past.

It is easy see why many think that 2012 end of the world is more than a possibility but for many more there is simply just not enough evidence to support that view. Thus no one really knows what will happen and hence if it is true or false.
